CMP are constructing the final stage of a new storm overflow system, which will require them to install 2 number 3.0M diameter pipes, in the riverbed of the Thames estuary to discharge storm water. This will connect to the 16.5 KM of tunnels and 3 no 28M diameter shafts which have being constructed and ends at Beckton STW.
To enable the 3.0M diameter pipes to be installed, CMP are installing sheet piles to form an open ended cofferdam in the Thames, which will be dredged and excavated to lay the pipes. As a section of works is completed the sheet piles will be extracted and reused to continue the line of the outfall.
